Thread: I officially need a new PSU

Default I officially need a new PSU

this confirms it. I'm trying to run all this off a BFG ES-800 (800W) PSU, which doesn't have the guts to provide for 3x GTX275 and 4ghz i7.

what I do see... is that someone needs to play cod4 with us

pretty video... till it restarts lol...

    500w draw :scared:

how many amps does your current psu serve up...

and what volts are you running on your cpu...

I will run the numbers through extreme psu calc and give you what amps you need... (but i need vcore first)
    I'm level error 404

    here ya go...

with that setup and 1.26 volts... its says your gonna use 776w and 58.6a on 12v rail

looks like the calc is right on the dot...

with 1.3v... gonna be safe here...

basically... your current one... should be good enough... either its defective or your oc is not stable... vdroop is to much... or of that 60 amps needed... your cpu wants more than 22...

I will leave it up if you want to tweak the calc...

it really seems like the PSU. The system is mostly stable, but certain activities trip it up. Like the "Canyon" test in 3dmark....it dies at that same exact point every time, which also happens to be the one that spikes the kill a watt the most. This issue started in Vista with 190.xx drivers and continues now in W7 with 191.xx drivers, so it's not a software issue.

The system does fold fine, even showing 800W+ usage.

So, this leads me to believe the 12v rails aren't set up properly for me.

I assume the 36a rails are for the two PCIe cables, which both have two PCIe plugs on them. This takes care of four out of six PCIe plugs I need.

The other two plugs come from molex->PCIe adaptors, which I currently have split between the two Molex cables. I wonder if both molex cables share the other 22a rail, or maybe one cable shares with the CPU. All 3 video cards are OCd as well, which the calc doesn't appear to consider.

In any case, I'm pushing this psu to its limit and beyond.

sounds like it... though if that is the point when my system goes down as well when i am overclocked far... it seems to be the harsh point of 3dmark...

I have had that happen before...

but not everytime... screen can just go black and require forceful reboot...

or it does it by itself... either way its a crash...
