54mbps should equal about 7MB/s of transfre speed
that would be your intranet speed...lan
your internet speed is whatever your isp gives you...
I have a wireless home network and i'm getting file transfer rates around 750KB. I would like to, at least, double this. I'm using a Belkin Wireless G router and the computers all have Linksys Wireless N adapters. If I upgrade my router to a wireless n router will that make a significant increase with my data transfer rate? Is there something I can do to increase my speeds with my current hardware? My Internet speed are good; I was thinking my file transfers would be better, or, at least closer to my Internet speed.

You might gain alittle getting a wireless n router but dont expect miracles for the price

I'm on a linksys wrt54g
and depending on how good the signal is, I get an actual of about 512k to about 3mbs..
here's 2 pc's I just tested a copy to... the slow one has an antenna that fell behind the entertainment center and it's halfway across the house. the faster one is als across the house, but the antenna is on top of the case on top of the desk. the router has high gain antennas.
honestly, if you're seeing under 1mbs then you need to change channels or figure out your signal issues. you need a clear signal to get 3mbs...
jebo had some issues streaming hd on his 54g network, and IIRC he was seeing about 1.2mbs

I seem to be getting .74 megabytes with my current configuration. Is there a way to speed that up?
My signal is solid green on all of my devices. How would I change the channel? That's a new concept for me.
you logon to your router and change the channel in the admin console. if you dont know how, look it up in the manual. you have like 12 channels, you'll have to test each one and see which one performs the best.
