Thread: Lag!!!

  1. #1

    Default Lag!!!

i live in a neighborhood but have a 10mb connection, an evga killer xeno pro, and a really good computer, basically i am doing all i can in terms of hardware to eliminate lag. BUT my problem is that when i pay cod4 my lagmeter is still choppy as ever and the game even freezes for a spit second and there is a bacl space in the green line on my lagometer. I get these black spaces frequently and overall lag. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas in terms of something i could do with my router/modem to help fix this or anything in general?

You might try port forwarding so that the router doesn't have to figure out which computer the traffic is going to.

Basically, with port forwarding you will be telling your router that all traffic from port "XXXXX" is supposed to go to your computer, where XXXXX is the port that COD4 uses. I don't know what it is off hand, but you can probably google search easily enough to find out.

The other thing you might try is using a program called DRTCP and use that in combination with test results from DSLReports.com to optimize your data transfer ability. I've provided a link below that will show you how to do this.

http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks - To get you started with DRTCP tweak testing
http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp - Link for DRTCP download.

Try those suggestions and let us know how it works for ya.
